Ruturaj Gaikwad Voices Support For 'Young Wicketkeeper' MS Dhoni To Lead CSK To Glory In IPL 2025
Gaikwad welcomed the change, voicing out his support for the 'young uncapped wicketkeeper' Dhoni, who will lead the Chennai franchise, in a video posted by CSK on social media.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing for the Chennai Super Kings lately, and to add insult to injury, their dismal start to the season was acclimated by the injury of skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is now ruled out for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season.
But perhaps all that CSK needed was a change-up — a reversal back into old ways more so — as the legendary MS Dhoni is slated to take over the reins at the Anbuden yet again.

The CSK skipper and opener reportedly sustained a blow to the elbow, after being hit by a short ball from Jofra Archer during their match-up against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30, which led to a reported elbow fracture.
It was officially announced that Gaikwad was ruled out of IPL 2025 due to the fracture and that MS Dhoni would take up captaincy duties for the season.
Gaikwad too welcomed the change, voicing out his support for the ‘young uncapped wicketkeeper’ Dhoni, who will lead the Chennai franchise, in a video posted by CSK on social media.
‘Really gutted to be missing the future part of the IPL due to an unfortunate elbow injury. But, thank you for your support till now," Gaikwad stated in the video posted by CSK on social media.
“Yes, we have been struggling for a while. But, you know, now that a young wicketkeeper is leading the team, hopefully, things will change," he added cheekily.
Gaikwad also mentioned that he shall be traveling with the CSK squad through the whole season, and shall continue to support his peers from the sidelines.
“I’m going to be there with the team to support them. I definitely would have loved to take this team out of the current situation. But, some circumstances are not controllable," Gaikwad stated.
“I’ll continue to support the team from the dugout, and hopefully, we’ll have a great season ahead."
The ‘young’ 43-year-old Dhoni is the most successful captain in IPL history, having led the Chennai franchise to a historic five titles previously.
With just one win in five matches played so far, CSK sits at the No. 9 position currently and will be counting on ‘Thala’ Dhoni to spark some magic of old and rejuvenate their campaign.
