'Only Two Spinners, Rest Are All-Rounders': Rohit Sharma's Quick-Witted Reply About India's Spin-Heavy Bowling Unit
Rohit Sharma had a quick-witted response to those who criticised India's bowling unit being too spin-heavy for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit Sharma hit back against critics who suggested that the Indian team might be carrying too many spinners for their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. He clarified that he had only two specialist spinners while the other three were all-rounders.
After India announced their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, many have been critical of the selection citing that they may have gone with too many spinners in their squad. The Indian captain highlighted how having quality all-rounders gives the side an added dimension to their squad.

“There only two spinners, the rest are all-rounders. They can bat and bowl," said Rohit when asked about the spin-heavy composition of the side," Rohit commented during the press conference ahead of their Champions Trophy 2025 opener against Bangladesh.
“We play to our strengths. The three all-rounders give a different dimension to the squad, they add a lot to the squad. We wanted to have players with two skills rather than one," he added.
Looking at India’s bowling options, India has two specialist spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav and their specialist quicks are, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana. India has as many as four all-rounders on their side with Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel.
Speaking on the Champions Trophy making its return, the captain emphasised how this tournament remains just as important as the other ICC tournaments and hopes that his side can do the right things to go all the way.
“It is a very important tournament like all ICC events are. We have to do a lot of things right to hold the trophy," he commented.
India, who are slotted in Group A begin their campaign against their next-door neighbours, Bangladesh. Rohit and co will be keen to continue their stellar form in ODIs as they hope to add another ICC title under their belt.
All of India’s games in the tournament will be held in Dubai including the knockouts should the Men in Blue qualify. They will also face the likes of Pakistan and New Zealand in their remaining group-stage fixtures.
