'Saw My Childhood Heroes Win This': Bumrah Elated To Join Elite Company As ICC Cricketer Of The Year
Before being crowned as the winner of the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy on Tuesday, Bumrah won the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award on Monday as well.

The cricketing world goes Boom Boom, as Jasprit Bumrah continues to write history with his sensational play, for which the Indian pacer was named the 2024 ICC Men’s Cricketer Of The Year on Tuesday.
Bumrah defeated the likes of Travis Head, Joe Root, and Harry Brook to win the coveted award, becoming just the fifth Indian men’s player to win the same.

The 31-year-old fast bowler was in red-hot form for India in 2024. He played 13 Tests and picked up 71 wickets, which was the most by any bowler, and in eight T20Is, the Indian accounted for the dismissal of 15 batters.
Bumrah also played a big role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 title win, and for his outstanding display with the ball, he won the Player of the Tournament award as well.
Before being crowned as the winner of the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy on Tuesday, Bumrah won the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award on Monday.
“I am really happy and honoured to be winning the Sir Garfield Sobers Men’s Cricketer Of The Year award. Last year was really memorable, especially winning the T20 World Cup in Barbados. It’s a memory that is close to my heart and I will always remember it forever," exclaimed Bumrah.
“When I was a youngster I saw many of my childhood heroes winning this award. So, I am very happy to be on the receiving end this time," added Bumrah.
“I’m grateful to receive this honour and I would like to thank the ICC as well."
Bumrah is the fifth Indian men’s player and the first Indian pacer to win the coveted award, joining the ranks of greats such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli and Ravinchandran Ashwin respectively.
The ace pacer also made appearances in ICC’s Men’s Test Team of the Year and the T20I Team of the Year as well for his undeniable exploits and impact.
