The contest wasn’t just about fours and sixes though. There was a tense on-field moment which required West Indies Masters captain Brian Lara‘s intervention.
Legendary India allrounder Yuvraj Singh had animated verbal exchange with fast bowler Tino Best following the 13th over.
Yuvraj wasn’t happy with Best leaving the field right after having bowled his third over in which Rayudu clattered a pair of fours.
The Indian complained to the on-field umpire and an annoyed Best, after returning to the field, gave Yuvraj a piece of his mind.
With neither backing out, Rayudu, Lara and the umpires prevented the situation from escalating.
Yuvraj remained unbeaten on 13 off 11 as in the company of Stuart Binny (16*), he took India over the line to seal a comfortable victory.
This was after Tendulkar dazzled the crowd gathered at the venue with a few of his vintage shots including an exquisite upper-cut for six of Jerome Taylor. Tendulkar made 25 off 18 with the help of two fours and a six before being dismissed by Best (1/34).
Former Australia allrounder Shane Watson finished as the leading run-getter of the tournament. Watson scored 361 runs from six innings at a strike-rate of 195.14. He peeled off three centuries.
Spinners Ashley Nurse and Xavier Doherty finished as the joint-highest wicket-takers with 10 scalps each.
