Why Is Travis Head Not In SRH's Playing 11 For Today's IPL 2025 Clash Vs KKR?
SRH will bench Travis Head for their IPL 2025 match against KKR, who have replaced Spencer Johnson with Moeen Ali. SRH skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will start their IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with their hard-hitting opener Travis Head on the bench. Meanwhile, KKR have dropped pacer Spencer Johnson from their playing 11 in place of an extra spinner in Moeen Ali for the home clash at the Eden Gardens on Thursday.
SRH skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. SRH’s playing 11 only included two other overseas players — Heinrich Klaasen and debutant Kamindu Mendis who replaced Abhinav Manohar. Head, then, will almost likely be used as an Impact Player in the second innings.

He’ll replace one of the bowlers. IPL rules allow overseas players to be used as Impact Players only when the team originally starts with three foreigners.
“We will bowl," Cummins said at the toss, as quoted by Cricbuzz. “Looks like a good surface, but I’m terrible at reading it. They outplayed us in the final, but a bit of change in both sides. We’ve spoken about our batting, we’ve been at our best while being aggressive, but we can’t be reckless. He has been amazing, doesn’t get unfazed by any situation. Coordination is the key, but we do have a clear idea."
KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who courted controversy by saying that the Eden Gardens’ pitch didn’t support his team’s qualities, was ‘very happy’ with the seemingly dry track for this match.
“Looks good, I’m really happy with the pitch, we were also bowling first," he said. “It will suit our spinners, at home, you should get what you want, but we’ll need to assess the situation quickly with the bat. We sat together, discussed how we can get better, but this is a long tournament and it was one bad day. Moeen Ali comes in place of Spencer Johnson. Regardless of all plans, we’ll have to come out and do well in the middle."
