Three young men from the Aurangabad district have set a remarkable example of this by generously offering free education to hundreds of children in some of the most Naxal-impacted areas of the region, demonstrating their commitment to empowering future generations.
In the isolated village of Dev block, an area heavily affected by Naxal activity, three dedicated young men—Nand Kumar Thakur, Angad Kumar, and Pankaj Kumar—have founded a free night school. Over 200 children from nearby villages now gather at this school, pursuing their education despite the numerous obstacles they encounter.

Angad Kumar, one of the founders and instructors at the school, explained that the initiative was launched in 2018 to provide free education to children in a region where essential resources are few and far between. The persistent challenges posed by Naxalism in the area have significantly hindered educational quality, leaving rural children with limited access to proper learning opportunities. Aware of this gap, the three men committed just two hours each evening to teach, and what initially began with 25 students has now expanded to more than 200.
Angad Kumar explained that while he worked during the day teaching private coaching classes for a fee, he committed his nights to offering free education to the children in the area. As the night school’s enrolment continued to increase, two more teachers volunteered their time, contributing their knowledge and skills without expecting any financial reward. Their unwavering dedication has made a profound difference, providing invaluable educational opportunities and a sense of hope to a region where access to such resources is incredibly scarce.
