Bahusaba, a young farmer from a village in Athani taluk, Belagavi district, is in the headlines after he devised an innovative method to pull out the weeds from the field. According to Local 18 Kannada, this farmer has installed a welding tool on his bike and then drives the 2-wheeler on his field, tilling it easily. Pulling out the weeds can be a difficult and exhausting job, but Bahusaba has managed to pull it off with a low-cost setup on his bike. Bahusaba owns 4 acres of agricultural land and has completed his education only up to class 10th standard. He is an expert in agricultural work. He noticed the high expenditure on using bulls and tractors for agricultural work. To overcome this, he found an alternative system of using the bike to remove the weeds from the crops.

To implement his plans, he took out his old bike and spent Rs 3000 to purchase a 20-foot iron pipe, and a 10-foot-long iron rod from the nearby town of Athani. Then, Bahusaba took the help of a welder from his village named Lakshmana.

Lakshmana attached the iron pipe and the rod in the form of a welding tool to Bahusaba’s bike. When the Belagavi farmer tried to experiment with this tool in his field, he saw that it failed to give the required results. Apart from tilling, the Belagavi farmer also uses this method for ploughing (it is the process involving loosening and turning of soil in agricultural fields. It is also known as tilling).

Despite this innovative technique, Bahusaba can be seen facing some problems initially while starting the bike. It can probably be due to the weight of the tools on the rear seat of the bike. Even when he is driving the bike in the field, he is not able to do it smoothly. The two-wheeler stops after he drives it for a short distance and then he has to start it again. It continues to happen for some time, but Bahusaba continues to complete the process without losing any patience.
