Bangalore Woman Sexual Assault Case: In a statement that could spark a controversy, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Monday said molestation incidents “happen here and there" in big cities.
His remarks came in reference to the molestation of a woman on a street in Bengaluru on April 3.

The incident happened in the city’s Sadduguntepalya, and was recorded on a CCTV camera.
On being asked about the case, Parmeswara, while talking to reporters, said, “Incidents like these tend to happen here and there in a big city like this."
“Whatever legal action needs to be taken will be done in accordance with the law. I have also instructed our commissioner to increase beat patrolling," he added.
The video, widely being shared on the internet, showed two women walking by a narrow lane when a man approaches them. He then pushes one of them against a wall and gropes her before running away.
The two women, visibly startled by the incident, walk away from the area, the footage showed.

Also commenting on the incident, Sarah Fathima, DCP South East Bengaluru told news agency ANI that an investigation had been launched into the case.
A First Information Report (FIR) had also been registered under Sections 74, 75 and 78 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
