A shocking incident has surfaced in Begusarai, Bihar, where a doctor allegedly conducted surgery on a pregnant woman via video call, leading to her tragic death. The case has sparked outrage after a viral WhatsApp post exposed the details, prompting an investigation by Local 18.
According to the viral post circulating in a WhatsApp group named ‘Begusarai Breaking’, Dr Sanjay Chaudhary, who was reportedly in Delhi at the time, guided his compounders through a surgical procedure on a pregnant woman via video call. The botched operation, conducted at his private clinic in Begusarai, resulted in the woman’s death. The incident took place in Modhrapur, under the Teghra police station area.

Sources reveal that the woman was brought to Dr Chaudhary’s private clinic after the medical officer of Teghra Sub-Divisional Hospital had gone on leave. In his absence, the unqualified staff allegedly performed the operation under remote supervision. Following the woman’s death, her relatives stormed the clinic in protest. However, both the doctor and his staff reportedly fled the scene, abandoning the clinic.
District Magistrate (DM) Tushar Singhla told Local 18 that an investigation would be conducted in the matter. So far, the victim’s family members have not commented officially. However, locals allege that the Teghra police played a role in suppressing the matter.
Reports suggest that authorities facilitated the hurried cremation of the victim’s body, raising concerns over a possible cover-up. Residents claim that a hefty sum may have been exchanged between the doctor, the police, and the deceased’s family to prevent further scrutiny.
This is not the first time such allegations have surfaced against Dr Chaudhary’s clinic. Local sources indicate that similar incidents have occurred in the past but were allegedly managed discreetly. Social activists expressed strong condemnation over the incident. “If these allegations are true, it is a deeply disturbing case of medical negligence. Strict action must be taken against those responsible," one activist told Local 18.
While the allegations are serious, Local 18 has not independently verified the claims made in the viral WhatsApp post.
