Earlier, the Supreme Court Collegium ordered the immediate transfer of Justice Yashwant Varma to his parent court in Allahabad. The Supreme Court said, “The proposal for the transfer of Mr. Justice Yashwant Varma, who is the second senior most judge in the Delhi High Court and a member of the Collegium, to his parent High Court, i.e. the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, where he will be ninth in seniority, is independent and separate from the In-house inquiry procedure."
The fire broke out at Justice Varma’s bungalow in Delhi on March 14, while he was away. His family called the fire brigade and local police. When emergency responders entered the house, they allegedly discovered a significant amount of cash inside a room.
Later, fire services chief Atul Garg said that the fire responders did not find any cash.
“Soon after dousing the flames, we informed police about the fire incident. Thereafter, a team of fire department personnel left the spot. Our firefighters did not find any cash during their firefighting operation," he said.
