‘Vo Toh Chalta Rehta Hai…’: PM Modi Opens Up On Memes With Italian PM Giorgia Meloni

In a light-hearted moment during his interaction with Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath in his podcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened up on the viral “Melodi memes" featuring him and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni.

During the interaction in ‘People’ series podcast, Kamath hinted at PM Modi’s Italy connection.

“My favourite food is pizza. And pizza is from Italy. And people say you know a lot about Italy," said Kamath, smiling. “Would you like to say something about that?" he asked PM Modi.

When Kamath asked if the Prime Minister had seen the memes on the social media, PM Modi responded with a smile, saying, “Vo toh chalta rehta hai" (That’s just how things go).

He further said that he doesn’t “waste time" thinking about memes, saying, “Main usmein apna time kharab nahi karta (I don’t waste my time in that)."

Melodi Memes

The “Melodi" (acronym for Modi+Meloni) meme had gained viral traction after a video from the G7 Summit in Italy in June last year showed the two leaders laughing together.

After the summit, Meloni had shared a selfie video with PM Modi which she captioned, “Hello from the Melodi team." The Prime Minister also responded to the X post saying, “Long live India-Italy friendship!" The ‘Melodi’ memes have been flooding the social media from time to time, highlighting PM Modi’s rapport with Meloni.

PM Modi Is A Non-Foodie

The duo later discussed about the food where the Prime Minister vented about him being a “non-foodie."

“I’m not a foodie, whatever is served in any country I eat happily. It is my bad fortune that if you take me to a restaurant, hand me the menu and ask me to choose, I won’t be able to do it," PM Modi said.

He also shared an incident during his early days working for the Sangh, saying that he used to take BJP stalwart late Arun Jaitley’s help to order food at restaurants.

“I don’t know if the dish that is mentioned in the menu and the food in front of me are the same thing, I do not have knowledge, I am ignorant because I have not developed that tendency. So I don’t understand much about it, so I always used to ask Arun ji to order food for me, it just needed to be vegetarian," he added.
