Alia Bhatt To Headline Kalki 2898 AD Director Nag Ashwin's Female-Led Film? Here's What We Know
Alia Bhatt is in talks with Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin to star in a female-centric film.

After Deepika Padukone, director Nag Ashwin might work with Alia Bhatt. A new report has claimed that Alia and the Kalki 2898 AD director are in talks to collaborate on a female-centric film. If it falls in place, this will be Alia’s second project with a Telugu filmmaker. She previously worked with SS Rajamouli, playing a role in RRR.
According to Mid-Day, Nag Ashwin has a script in place and Alia is being considered for the role. “Ashwin has crafted a script focused on a powerful female lead—a character that demands emotional intensity and depth which is tailor-made for Alia. While the storyline remains a closely guarded secret, the narrative would tackle themes of personal resilience and empowerment in a unique, contemporary setting," the source shared.

If things fall in place, the untitled project will be backed by Vyjayanthi Films, the same production house that produced Kalki 2898 AD. The project is set to go on floors in the second-half of 2025. It is likely that Nag Ashwin is busy with the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD. The first part, which starred Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, released earlier this year and was a massive hit. The film ended on a cliffhanger event, which will continue in the sequel.
A release date for the sequel hasn’t been set yet.
Meanwhile, Alia has also been busy with the making of her spy film, Alpha. The first all-female film under YRF’s spy universe, Alpha also stars Sharvari in the lead. The duo began filming for the project a few weeks ago. The shoot was taking place in Kashmir. Talking about her upcoming schedule, Sharvari told IANS, “I can’t wait to be on the sets of Alpha again and I can’t wait to shoot in Kashmir! I’m thrilled that it’s going to be a very exciting schedule. The Alpha team will be meeting after some time so we are all super ready to start the Kashmir schedule!"
