If there’s one actor who can slip into any role like a pro, it’s Vijay Raaz! And now, he’s set to bring Kanhaiya Lal, the tailor, to life in Gyanvapi Files. The film’s first poster is finally here, and let’s just say—Raaz’s intense look has our hearts. The film is based on the brutal murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal and Vijay Raaz portraying the titular role.
The first official poster of the film was unveiled today, April 2, 2025. Gyanvapi Files will arrive in theatres on June 27.

The film was announced by the makers on social media with the caption, “Witness the story that needs to be told! #GyanvapiFiles: A Tailor’s Murder Story. In cinemas 27th June!"

In June 2022, Kanhaiya Lal was brutally murdered in Udaipur by two assailants who beheaded him in broad daylight. The attackers later released a video confessing to the crime, stating that it was in retaliation for his social media post supporting Nupur Sharma. Sharma, a former BJP spokesperson, had sparked controversy with her remarks about the Prophet Muhammad, which led to widespread protests.
Meanwhile, Vijay Raaz made his debut with Bhopal Express in 1999 and ever since, there was no looking back for him. His breakthrough came when he played the role of Dubeyji in the movie Monsoon Wedding in 2001. Raaz garnered recognition for his comedic role in Run (2004) and Dhamaal (2007). He is noted for playing gangster roles in Delhi Belly and Dedh Ishqiya as well as other notable films include Stree (2018), Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, Lootcase, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. In 2014, he debuted as a director with Kya Dilli Kya Lahore.
