HBO Executive Sarah Aubrey spoke about casting for the new Harry Potter series. The filming is expected to begin this summer.
The Internet was divided when HBO announced that they are bringing back Harry Potter to the world again, this time as a series. While a section of netizens believed that the Harry Potter films should remain untouched, another felt that a fresh perspective in the form of an elaborate series would justify the details mentioned in the book. Amid the discussion, fans secretly hoped whether the film’s original cast would feature in the series. HBO executive Sarah Aubrey has finally cleared the air.
Firstly, she spoke about casting the right faces for the iconic roles. “I think it is a dream job for a lot of actors in the UK, but the roles that we are casting right now are for people who are going to be on the show for a decade, so that is also a very particular gig. But the commitment is to make the books, and that is what it could be," she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Aubrey added that many iconic faces from the Harry Potter films have expressed their eagerness to be a part of the series. She said, “But there are interesting people raising their hands to be the featured adult actors that come on in later seasons, like the Sirius Blacks of the world. So, it has been very, very fun."
Furthermore, she added that the series’ team do not intend to repeat the film’s cast. “We do not want to repeat people that were in the movies. And it is always a little nerve-wracking because people associate those roles with certain actors, but I also think because it’s going to be eight hours of TV, we are going to immerse them in a different actor’s performance," the HBO executive shared.
Reportedly, actors Sharon Horgan, Brett Goldstein, Mark Strong, and Paapa Essiedu are some of the big names that are being speculated to play important characters like McGonagall, Snape, Hagrid, and Dumbledore.
Recently, casting call for Harry Potter series was announced by the makers. It received a thunderous reaction from aspiring actors. As per a Deadline report, the filming of Harry Potter series is expected to commence this summer.
