Other than Janhvi Kapoor, well known personalities like Anurag Kashyap, Shekhar Kapur, Vedang Raina, Karan Johar, Masaba Gupta and Alia Bhatt have also shared their genuine opinion on Adolescence. These Bollywood artists have spoken about how important and relevant the show’s theme is in today’s world.

Stephen Graham, who co-wrote Adolescence and played Owen Cooper’s father, initially believed the show would mainly attract attention in the UK. However, he was surprised by how much discussion it has sparked and the strong response it received from Indian viewers.

In a conversation with Rolling Stone, Graham said, “I got a text from a mate of mine, telling me how big Adolescence is in India. And my first response was, ‘Hold on, did you say India? Did I hear you correctly?’ Apparently, it’s really striking a nerve there. But it just seems to have struck a nerve in a lot of places. The thing you have to understand, when we set out to do this, it was very colloquial. But it’s like we dropped a stone into this pond, and the ripple effect it’s produced has been unbelievable."

Adolescence starts with 13-year-old Jamie’s arrest for killing a classmate named Katie. As the case moves forward, it sheds light on the deep psychological struggles of the teenage boy and people of his age. Creators Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham have shown how early exposure to the internet influences young minds.
