Kim Soo Hyun’s Instagram Gets Major Boost After Emotional Press Conference, Actor Gains New Followers
During the press conference, Kim addressed allegations that he dated Sae Ron when she was a minor.
South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun made his first public appearance recently when he held a press conference addressing the death of his ex-girlfriend, Kim Sae Ron. While speaking to the media, Kim Soo Hyun broke down and was seen crying inconsolably. Reportedly, this has helped the actor in regaining some of his Instagram followers.
As reported by Koreaboo, Hyun’s Instagram saw a sudden increase in his followers. In the past one month, he had lost more than 1 million followers because of the backlash surrounding Kim Sae Ron’s death. However, after the press conference, the actor’s Instagram followers started increasing again. For the first time in over 20 days, Hyun gained more new followers than he lost. He has over 20 million followers on Instagram now.

During the press conference, Kim addressed allegations that he dated Sae Ron when she was a minor. He said, “I’ll address the biggest concern—I did not date the deceased when she was a minor. We dated five years ago for about a year, long before Queen of Tears aired."
He explained why he denied dating Sae Ron earlier, saying, “As the lead actor of Queen of Tears, I couldn’t confirm the relationship publicly because of its potential impact on the cast and crew." Kim also denied accusations that his agency pressured Sae Ron over her debts, saying, “Aside from the fact that we were both actors, we were simply an ordinary couple who broke up over time."
Previously, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency also confirmed that he was in a romantic relationship with Kim Sae Ron. The agency, Gold Medalist, issued a statement and addressed allegations that the actor dated Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. The agency claimed that the two were in a relationship in 2019 and 2020. It further argued that the viral photo, which caused the controversy, was also taken in 2020 and not in 2016.
