Ryan Reynolds is facing criticism for his poor parenting. It all started when the actor recently admitted to tutoring his daughter, Inez, to recite a rough line in the blockbuster film Deadpool & Wolverine. FYI, Inez portrayed Kidpool, a child character with a foul mouth, who is seen saying the lines, “Hey when I want your opinion, I’ll take Wolverine’s d*** out of your mouth," in the film. Now, the actor’s confession to training his daughter for the scene has ignited widespread criticism from the public, calling it all ‘sick and disturbing.’
Talking about behind-the-scenes for Deadpool & Wolverine’s Deadpool Corps scene in 2024, Ryan told director Shawn Levy that he coached his daughter to say the particular line and he should be awarded the Best Father of the Year award for the same. As he continued to talk, the actor confessed to taking her through a series of takes — reportedly between 70 and 500 to end up with the one they wanted.

Ryan Reynolds said, “Guilty that is my daughter Inez and I am father of the year over here for allowing her to say such language, which to her credit she really didn’t want to say and then said ‘I want to say it now’ when I started looking at other people to play." Shawn Levy who joined Reynolds to talk about the making of the film, also admitted the discomfort while filming the scene.
Ryan Reynolds’ confession is being criticised, especially in light of his wife, Blake Lively’s ongoing court battles with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni. For those unaware, Lively filed a case against Baldoni over charges of sexual harassment and defamation.
As the backlash around Ryan’s recent confession continues to escalate, netizens flooded the social media platforms with posts and comments, labelling his actions ‘sickening’ and ‘perverted’.A fan said, “It is really diabolical for him as her father."
“I thought it was very crude in the movie having those words come out of a little kid and now, knowing that was his OWN child he put that kind of pressure on her or he would find another child actor to say it for the scene…That is sooo disturbing and I can’t believe Disney approved something like that for a seven-year-old girl," said another.
Inez’s participation in Deadpool and Wolverine has raised concerns about the idea of including children in adult, R-rated material.
