Sara Ali Khan had a chance meet with filmmaker Aanand L Rai at Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in Delhi. The duo had worked together in the 2021 film Atrangi Re, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Dhanush. Sara took to Instagram and shared a heartwarming post for Aanand on her Instagram story.
Sara Ali Khan and Aanand L Rai unexpectedly crossed paths at the revered Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in New Delhi. Rai is in the capital, filming his upcoming Colour Yellow project Tere Ishk Mein with Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. Sara’s reason for visiting Delhi isn’t known yet. Sara worked with Aanand in Atrangi Re, a film that blended romance and drama with lighthearted moments. Their latest picture from Delhi sparked nostalgia among fans, leaving them wondering about a next possible collaboration.
Last year, Sara had confessed that she wanted to pass on her Atrangi Re role when Aanand had first approached her for the part. Speaking to Mid-Day, Sara said, “I called Aanand R Lai and told him, ‘Atrangi Re is a great script. This character is outstanding. Are you sure you don’t want to call Alia Bhatt (to do the role instead)?’" When asked why she asked such a question, Sara Ali Khan explained, “Because I was very nervous. This was after Love Aaj Kal. He told me, ‘On a personal note, I’ll deal with you. But Rinku is not a character that you can play on the back foot. So you can’t do this (have doubts) right now or ever’. That really helped pick me up."
Atrangi Re is a cross-cultural romance that unfolds between Bihar and Madurai. Sara portrays a quintessential Bihari girl, while Dhanush takes on the role of a Tamilian student. Akshay also plays a key part in the film. It is currently streaming on JioHotstar.
On the work front, Sara Ali Khan will be next seen in Anurag Basu’s multi-starrer film, Metro…In Dino. As for Aanand R Lai, he will bankroll Shanaya Kapoor’s debut film with Adarsh Gourav titled Tu Yaa Main.
