Vijay Deverakonda Calls Pahalgam Attack 'Heartbreaking', Says 'Cowardly Act Of Dumb Terrorism'

In the wake of a tragic attack in Pahalgam, where tourists were targeted, actor Vijay Deverakonda has condemned it, calling the incident “heartbreaking" and labelling the perpetrators as “cowards." The attack saw armed assailants open fire at innocent tourists, causing panic and fear. Several lives were lost, and many others were injured, leaving a once peaceful region shaken by senseless violence.
Vijay, who has a special connection to Pahalgam, took to social media to share his distress. He reminisced his time in the picturesque town and recalled celebrating his birthday two years ago amidst the warmth and hospitality of the local Kashmiri people. He described the experience of filming a movie while surrounded by the beautiful landscape and the kindness of the locals who took great care of him and his team.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Vijay conveyed his anger and sorrow over the brutal attack. He wrote, “I celebrated my birthday 2 years ago in Pahalgam, amidst shooting a film, amidst laughter, amidst my local Kashmiri friends who took the greatest care of us. What happened yesterday is heartbreaking and infuriating – calling yourself a Force and shooting tourists is the most shameful embarrassing and cowardly act of dumb terrorism hiding behind guns."
The actor also voiced his solidarity with the victims and their families, stating, “We stand with the victims and their families. We stand with Kashmir."
Vijay further emphasised his hope for swift justice, saying, “And I hope these cowards are cleaned out. Swiftly."
On April 22, 2025, a horrific mass shooting unfolded at the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir. Dubbed the Pahalgam Massacre of Hindu Tourists, the attack saw militants linked to The Resistance Front (TRF) open fire on a group of Hindu tourists. At least 28 people were killed, and over 20 others were injured in the deadly assault.
