When Pooja Hegde Was Deemed ‘Too Young’ For A Tamil Film Role
Pooja Hegde has opened up about facing rejection from a Tamil film. The filmmaker thought she was too young for the role.
Pooja Hegde has always been vocal about her opinions. The Deva actress recently made headlines for co-starring with actors such as Salman Khan, Prabhas and Shahid Kapoor in different films. Recently, Pooja opened up about facing rejection from a Tamil film as the makers thought she was too young for the role. The actress confirmed that she auditioned for the role but wasn’t selected. However, she doesn’t let rejections discourage her and always looks forward to audition as a way of selection.
In an interview with The Times of India, Pooja Hegde revealed, “I recently auditioned for a Tamil film and got rejected. They felt I was too young for the part, so they chose someone older. But I’m open to auditions and never shy away from them."

The actress has been a part of the entertainment industry for over a decade, and even now, she doesn’t stop herself when it comes to auditioning for roles. She further stated, “In fact, I prefer when people reach out to me for auditions rather than assuming I’m not right for the role."
The 34-year-old actress explained that this way, she gets a chance to prove herself as an actor, show them how she can convincingly play the role and also dispel any doubts the director may have about her suitability for the part.
“Filmmakers have a certain perception about actors, especially female actors, as we tend to get typecast easily. That’s why I feel it’s important to audition and showcase your traits that haven’t been explored yet. It’s better to be in the running for a role than to be overlooked," the Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actress added.
Pooja Hegde confirmed that she is not afraid of working hard and putting herself out there. She said, “You can’t let your ego interfere with your craft. Many people don’t get the privilege of being called for an audition, so when the opportunity arises, you should take it. In the West, some of the biggest stars still audition, so why not here?"
On the work front, Pooja Hegde was last seen in the action-thriller Deva alongside Shahid Kapoor. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
