US millionaire Bryan Johnson, on the course of reversing his biological age, claims to have done another fascinating experiment with his body. In a recent social media post, Johnson revealed that he injected himself with horse tranquiliser Ketamine to study the changes in his brain. After the anaesthetic entered into his bloodstream, the pattern of his cognitive function was “completely scrambled". “I injected the horse tranquillizer Ketamine and tracked my brain data for 15 days. It completely scrambled my brain," Johnson wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“In a world-first, we answered the question ‘What happens to the brain before, during, and after ketamine treatment?’ We also discovered how long it took for my brain to return to ‘normal’," he claimed further.

Before taking the Ketamine injection, the entrepreneur had observed his brain function for ten days and found that it “followed fixed, predictable" patterns. He compared the brain with a “global air traffic network" where “each airport (or brain region) has consistent flight routes and traffic volumes."

“After ketamine, my brain’s activity patterns were completely scrambled. Instead of predictable routes between major hubs, traffic was rerouted to smaller, less-used airports across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. This means brain activity that was once rigidly structured became more flexible and varied, potentially unlocking new connections and ways of thinking," Johnson explained.

The anti-ageing guru also opened up about how his brain started returning to its original state after three days. He labelled it as the “therapeutic window" that opens “post a ketamine or psychedelic administration".

Johnson also shared a graphical representation of how “his functional connectivity (traffic patterns) was stable for days 1-5 before ketamine and showed large changes during the ketamine session." “Post Ketamine, my functional connectivity decreases for days and then begins trending to normalize back to his baseline," he added.

To acquire the brain data, Johnson used Kernel Flow– a non-invasive brain interface technology for which he invested 64 million US Dollars. “The technology in Flow is similar to the device you’ve put on your finger to get your heart rate and blood oxygenation," he mentioned in the comment section of the post.

For the unversed, Ketamine is an FDA-approved anaesthetic that is used to treat depression. It primarily works as a human anaesthetic and can also aid in pain management.
