‘Don’t Come To US For Next 4 Years’: Student's Shocking Advice To Fellow-Indians
According to Reddit, many students find it hard to get jobs in the US and end up dealing with depression.

Studying in US is often seen as a dream for many Indian students. The quality education, better career opportunities and a chance to live abroad attracts thousands every year. But the reality of studying abroad can be very different. Recently, a Reddit user who claims that to hold a Master of Science (MS) degree from a US university shared a post criticising the American education system.
In the post, the user highlighted the challenges faced by Indian students and warned others against coming to the US for the next three to four years. “The coaching mafia is running scams, talking about the US as the land of milk and honey. Don’t come to the US for the next 3-4 years," the user wrote.

The post attracted varied reactions from fellow Redditors. Here’s how they reacted.
One user wrote, “People used to have three job offers before graduation until 2022. Now, they don’t have even one after more than a year of graduation. Come only if you are rich and want to take a huge risk where you can afford to lose all the money you pay the university."
Another said, “Hard agree. If you need to take a loan, just don’t. It’s better to torture yourself in India than the US."
“Honestly don’t risk it. Haven’t gotten an offer since 2023 on an F1 visa. Keep working till you get at least 5/6 years of work experience in India. If you can, try making a resume as if you’re in the US and try with a sample resume what response you’re getting on that. You’ll get to know how brutal it is for international students in the US to find an interview," an individual pointed out.
A person sharing their own experience, wrote, “Don’t go anywhere in North America for next 2-3 years. There’s gonna be economic instability and trade wars. I came back to India from Canada after 4 years. Life in Canada is hell but it’s gonna get worse with elections. Save your money people. Upskill and make money in India. If it’s gonna happen it will happen."
Earlier, a software engineer shared a similar experience. Even with an MS degree from the University of Michigan and extensive experience in full-stack development, they could not secure a job interview and eventually decided to return to India.
