According to reports from the Daily Star, the bodies were discovered in a room of a residence after concerned family members noticed the absence of the five individuals. When they entered the home, they were met with a horrifying scene.

The tragic chain of events began when the girl, harbouring resentment towards her former partner, mixed poison into a traditional pepper soup. She intended to target only her ex-boyfriend but inadvertently caused the deaths of four others – two of whom were brothers and the remaining three were their friends. Unaware of the lethal contents, the boy consumed the soup and shared it with his friends.
The local police confirmed that the girl has been arrested and is currently under investigation. Moses Yamu, spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, stated that while authorities understand how the deaths occurred, they are still determining the precise cause of death, which is initially believed to be related to food poisoning or potentially toxic fumes from a generator.
