‘Maan Gaya Main…’: Teen Outsmarts UPI Scammer, Leaves Him Speechless | Watch

A video shared on X shows a teen engaging with a scammer who claimed to be her father’s friend. Recognising the scam, she pretended to cooperate, stalling for time. The scammer tried to convince the teen that her father had asked him to transfer money to her UPI account. The fraudster confidently asserted that he would send her Rs 12,000 via Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
The scammer claimed to have sent Rs 10,000 via UPI and sent a fake SMS from a personal number, not her bank. When he tried to scam her into returning Rs 18,000, claiming he had mistakenly sent Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 2,000, the quick-thinking teen edited the fake SMS to show she had sent Rs 18,000 back and forwarded it to him, confidently saying, “There, I’ve also sent you Rs 18,000."
After this, the scammer was left stunned, admitting defeat with a reluctant “Maan gaya main aapko, beta" (“I admit I’ve met my match, child") before abruptly hanging up the call.

One user wrote, “Very, very smart girl with great IQ." Another commented, “That was great presence of mind." A third said, “Mujhe bhi aata hai bahut bar maine bhi Inko bahut bar bola hai".
“Why people believe in SMS rather than check in the UPI app, which isn’t a much task," another one wrote.
The incident highlights the need for vigilance and awareness when interacting with unknown or suspicious contacts, especially those requesting sensitive information or money.
