A unique case has come to light in the Gaurihar district of Madhya Pradesh. A 55-year-old Sukru Ahirwar struggled due to his extraordinary hunger. Sukru comes from a humble background and had to face a life full of hardships. Due to poverty, he had to leave his studies midway. He even got an opportunity for a government job but could not go out to fulfil his responsibility towards his family. It made his life more difficult. He had to take up work as a labourer for the last 45 years.

Sukru Ahirwar’s appetite is quite large. In an interview with Local18, he said, “I have to eat 1 kg flour in one go. When I feel very hungry, I mix jaggery in the wet flour and eat it because it takes time to prepare. Even at this age, I can eat 14 rotis in one go. Apart from this, I eat ten besan laddoos and 1 kg jalebi, all in one go, but I get such food once in many months."

Due to his extreme hunger and large appetite, his earning children have distanced themselves from him. Even his wife refuses to pay much attention to him. Sukru now cooks for himself and eats the food. While working as a labourer, he often demanded flour and rice instead of money to sustain himself. He said with the money he would receive, he would have to buy flour and rice. Instead of buying the food ingredients, he directly demanded these to fill his stomach.

    Every month, he gets 5 kilograms of grain from the government, but it is not sufficient to fulfil his hunger as the grains get finished in just a few days. He continues to work as a labourer even in his old age. He said, “I have to work as a labourer just to fill my stomach. All the money I get is spent on food, but still, my stomach is not full."
