This Man Earns Up To Rs 36 Lakh A Year Carrying Women Up The Mountain
Xiao Chen, a 26-year-old porter on Mount Tai in China, earns up to Rs 36 lakh annually by carrying tourists up the mountain, charging Rs 7,000 for daytime and Rs 4,600 for night-time trips
If you have watched the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s film Kedarnath, you might recall his role as a porter. These porters assist the elderly, children, and women in climbing the mountain by carrying them on their backs and earning money in the process. Recently, a man from China has revealed that he earns up to Rs 36 lakh by doing this job, climbing the mountain twice a day.

According to a report from the New York Post, Xiao Chen, a 26-year-old, works on Mount Tai in Shandong province, China. He helps tourists trek up the mountain by carrying women on his back to a tourist destination located at the top, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site at an elevation of 5,029 feet. Most of his clients seek his assistance for the last 1,000 steps of the journey.
Initially, Chen assists his clients by holding their hands, and when they become tired, he carries them on one shoulder using a fireman lift to climb the stairs. Chen earns around $42,000, which is more than Rs 36 lakh, by doing this job. He climbs the mountain twice a day, charging up to Rs 7,000 rupees for a daytime trip and Rs 4,600 rupees for a night-time trip.
Chen earns up to Rs 5.5 lakh each month. Climbing the last 1,000 steps takes him about half an hour. Due to the high demand for his services, Chen has started hiring team members to assist him. Chen, who is a sports graduate, usually serves women aged between 25 and 40.
