UK Mom, Who Started Child-friendly Cutlery Business For Rs 2 Lakh, Now Earns Millions
The woman’s parents, to start the business, gave her a loan of around Rs 2 lakh.
Parents can do anything for their children, to make their life better and easier. Something similar was done by this UK woman, who developed a whole new line of cutlery to make sure children eat their food. It all started with her own kids. 43-year-old Kat Dodd is a mother who, like any other woman, had to deal with her fussy children. In an interview she revealed that she was diagnosed with the condition of chronic fatigue, something which came in the way of her, and her children. According to her, one day she found her daughter Olivia using a broken utensil to eat food, which she accidentally broke herself, and that is how she got the idea to start a business in children’s cutlery. Her line is known as Doddl.
To start the business, she got some help from her parents, who gave her a loan of 2000 pounds in 2013, around Rs 2 lakh. Thanks to her three children, for whom she ventured into this business, and makes the product according to their needs.

In an interview with Fabulous, she explained her product, “I started moulding handles that I thought would be more suitable for children – making something much more compact and engineered to a child’s hand." Kat further spoke saying that when the business started, her eldest daughter Olivia was 3, while her twins Megan and Morgan were 2-year-olds. She said, “Having three toddlers was particularly challenging and often I felt outnumbered and out of control."
She further stated, “We now ship worldwide – our biggest markets are the UK, Japan, which has seen 300% growth year on year and Taiwan." Kat revealed that now her successful toddler cutlery business is valued at 20 million pounds. It has shown a growth of 150 percent globally, and has sold more than 1 million products around the world. In a day, they are able to sell around 10,000 units, which amounts to 120,000 pounds in sale.
