'Work From Home Not Car': Bengaluru Police Issues Warning After Woman Caught Using Laptop While Driving

A woman in Bengaluru was recently fined after she was caught using her laptop while driving, leading the police to issue a strong warning for such behaviour. The incident came to light when the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Traffic North posted a video showing the woman balancing her laptop on the steering wheel while driving on a busy and congested road. Along with the video, authorities shared a photo of the woman getting challan for the offense. Although the DCP didn’t reveal her identity, she reminded people that it is unsafe to work while driving and if work is so urgent, people should work from home.

According to The Hindu report, after receiving the complaint, the traffic police located the woman at her relative’s house, where she was reportedly hiding. They seized her car and charged her for driving dangerously, for which the woman was asked to pay the fine of Rs 1000. Sharing the video and picture of the accused, the DCP wrote, “Work from home not from car while driving."

Reacting to the post, a user suggested, “Should cancel driving licence."

Another shared, “This will continue more in future due to employer pressure or might be those features called ADAS, automatic whatever available but this is not encouraged."

“When main roads become parking lots due to unplanned development people have no choice when they are delayed in going to the office," a comment read.

An individual shared, “Working while driving. Some big company CEOs will be happy. Bad trend."

Another mentioned, “Please charge heavy fines, such people have destroyed the work culture."

One more added, “Hope they fired her from her office for this."

In 2024, a similar incident was recorded when a man was spotted using a laptop while riding a two wheeler. A video shared by Peak Bengaluru on X showed him attending a Zoom meeting while on the move. The clip sparked a discussion about responsible driving and it is not known if the man was fined for his action.
