The complete Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will soon be open to the general public, significantly enhancing travel speed, comfort, and convenience. This development has sparked tremendous enthusiasm among the residents of Dehradun as it reduces the travel time between both cities significantly.

A 3.5-km section of this 210 km long expressway has already been opened, and now the entire route is set to be inaugurated. The expressway will reduce travel time from 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours, proving to be a game changer for business and tourism in Uttarakhand.

    When Local18 sought public opinions, most residents hailed the project as revolutionary. While businesses, travellers, and tourists welcomed the development, some even raised concerns about potential traffic congestion.

    A Boon For Business And Connectivity

    Local resident Anupam Sethi stated that the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway would transform Uttarakhand’s economic landscape, offering immense benefits to traders. “Now, goods will arrive from Delhi in a single day, accelerating business growth," he said.

    Similarly, Mukesh Sharma expressed amazement at the development. “Earlier, we couldn’t have imagined this. Reaching Delhi in just two and a half hours feels like a dream. This project will directly connect Dehradun, the state capital, with Delhi, the national capital."

    Will Dehradun’s Traffic Woes Worsen?

    Some residents, however, voiced concerns about increased traffic in Dehradun. Ashok Negi pointed out that every development has both advantages and disadvantages. “The expressway will make travel faster, but can Dehradun, Mussoorie, Vikasnagar, and Chakrata handle this heavy traffic? Dehradun is already grappling with congestion, and the problem may worsen."

    Benefits For Hajj Pilgrims And Local Businesses

    Local businessman Farman Ali highlighted that small traders would benefit the most. “Currently, it takes 2-4 days for goods to arrive from Delhi. Now, it will happen in just one day." He also noted that Hajj pilgrims would no longer have to worry about missing flights due to travel delays.

      Hotelier Sunny Sharma predicted a significant boost to the tourism industry, leading to the development of new tourist spots, growth in the hotel sector, and increased employment opportunities.
