Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari Dies Of Heart Attack; Know His Net Worth

Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari died on Thursday, March 28, aged 60. He suffered a heart attack and breathed his last at the Banda Medical College in Uttar Pradesh. Ansari was serving his term at the Banda Jail and was brought to the medical college when he complained of pain in the chest. He was a five-time MLA from the Mau assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh. His death marks the end of a controversial and yet influential political figure.
According to the election affidavit of Mukhtar Ansari, he had total assets worth more than Rs 21.88 crore. Apart from the assets, he had liabilities of Rs 6.91 crore. According to the information on the MyNeta app, Ansari’s total income in 2015-16 was Rs 17.75 lakh. His wife’s income in a normal period was Rs 10.43 lakh. The income of his two dependents was Rs 2.75 lakh and Rs 3.83 lakh respectively. Reportedly, his assets worth Rs 600 crore were confiscated after he had been proven guilty.

Mukhtar Ansari was a five-time MLA. In his political career, he had won the legislative elections three times from jail. According to reports, there were more than 60 criminal cases against him. Some of these serious charges against him included attempts to murder. The late politician was also booked under eight charges by the law. For two of them, he had even received a life imprisonment sentence by the court.
Ansari had also involved his family in the world of politics. In 2022, he made his elder son Abbas run in the elections from his seat, which he eventually won. His younger son and his wife were also booked with several charges and have been absconding.
After Mukhtar Ansari’s death, Section 144 was implemented in Mau, Banda and Ghazipur. People have started gathering at Mukhtar’s ancestral house in Mohammadabad
in Ghazipur and the police force has been instructed to remain on high alert.
