Star England fast bowler Jofra Archer, who is playing in IPL 2025 for Rajasthan Royals, created an unwanted record on Sunday (March 23) during his team’s first match of the new season. Archer, who joined RR for Rs 12.50 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, conceded 76 runs in his quota of four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, which helped him break the record of worst bowling figures in the cash-rich league’s history.

Archer was smacked for 23 runs in his first over of the match by Travis Head (67 runs from 31 balls), and in the second over Archer conceded 12 runs.
The England cricketer bowled the 13th over of SRH’s innings and gave away 22 runs. He was smacked for a six on the first, second and fifth balls by Ishan Kishan (106 runs from 47 balls).
Archer’s last over of the match was the 18th over of the SRH’s innings, and in that Heinrich Klaasen hit him for four fours to collect a total of 23 runs.
Century for Ishan
In the second match of IPL 2025, Ishan Kishan came out to bat at No. 3 for SRH and remained unbeaten on 106 runs from 47 balls. During his stay at the crease, he hammered 11 fours and six sixes. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter crossed the 100-run mark by taking two runs on the last ball of the 19th over of SRH’s innings bowled by Sandeep Sharma.
Ishan added 85 runs for the second wicket with Travis Head, 72 runs with Nitish Kumar Reddy for the third wicket and 56 runs for the fourth wicket with Heinrich Klaasen to take SRH’s tally to 286 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
For RR, Tushar Deshpande finished with figures of 3 for 44 in four overs, and two SRH batters were sent back to the pavilion by Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana, who conceded 52 runs in his quota of four overs. Sandeep Sharma also finished the first half of the match with 1 wicket for 51 runs in four overs.
