Bangladesh Announce Champions Trophy Squad: Shakib Al Hasan Ignored, Litton Das Dropped
Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead Bangladesh in the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, where the team is set to open its campaign on February 20 against India in Dubai.
Star all-rounder and former captain Shakib Al Hasan on Sunday (January 12) was ignored by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors, whereas wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das was dropped from Bangladesh’s squad for the upcoming 2025 edition of ICC Champions Trophy, which is set to start on February 19.
Bangladesh will open its campaign in the eight-team tournament on February 20 against India in Dubai and then face New Zealand in the second Group A match in Rawalpindi on February 24. Bangladesh’s third and final Group A match is scheduled to take place on February 27 against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

The Bangladesh squad features the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Mustafizur Rahman, along with Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan, Tawhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Parvez Hossain Emon, Nasum Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Nahid Rana.
Shakib last played a 50-over match for Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In that match, he first picked up two wickets for 57 runs in 10 overs and then scored 82 runs from 65 balls with the help of 12 fours and 2 sixes.
Litton, on the other hand, last played an ODI match for Bangladesh against the West Indies in Basseterre on December 12, 2024, but failed to open his account.
