Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, Bengaluru is aiming to build on their strong finish in IPL 2024, where they made a brilliant comeback to bag a playoff spot but fell short in the eliminator.
Meanwhile, with 97 T20 fifties to his name, Kohli is on the brink of becoming the second player in history to score 100 half-centuries in the shortest format.
Kohli can go past David Warner’s record for the most half-centuries in IPL history and be a contender for the Orange Cap yet again, which he has won twice before.
Meanwhile, Kohli was the biggest name among six Indian players picked in the 12-member Team of the Tournament for the Champions Trophy.
Besides Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy and pacer Mohammed Shami featured in the playing XI, while all-rounder Axar Patel was named the 12th man.
Iyer will lead the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, Rahul is now a part of the Delhi Capitals, Shami will ply his trade for the Sunrisers Hyderabad while Chakravarthy was retained by defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
KKR will begin their title defence against Bengaluru on Saturday, March 22 at the Eden Gardens.
