'Was he really That Tired?': Former India Cricketer Questions Logic Behind Ishan Kishan Being Rested For Final Two Australia T20Is
Jadeja pointed out that Kishan played only two matches in the World Cup and asked whether there was really a need for him to be rested for the last two T20Is.
Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has questioned the India selectors and team management’s decision to send Ishan Kishan home after the first three T20Is against Australia. Kishan, who recently played in the ODI World Cup, was rested from the last two matches of the five-match T20I series which India won 4-1.
Jitesh Sharma, who replaced Kishan in the last two matches, was impressive with the bat, scoring 35 and 24 in the fourth and fifth T20I respectively with a good strike-rate during the crucial stages.

Jadeja pointed out that Kishan played only two matches in the World Cup and asked whether there was really a need for him to be rested for the last two T20Is.
“There was a series right after the World Cup. Ishan Kishan played three matches and went home. Was he really that tired after three matches that he needed rest? He didn’t even play a lot of games at the World Cup. He deserved his spot in the playing XI for the first few World Cup matches. How many Indian players have scored a double century on a good day?" Jadeja said on Sports Tak.
He suggested if this continues to happen with Kishan then it will be tough for him to ensure that he is fully ready.
“Ishan Kishan didn’t even play the entire five-match T20I series against Australia. He was sent home after three matches to rest. So, if this is going to continue, how will you ensure that he is fully ready?" Jadeja said.
Meanwhile, Jadeja, who was part of Afghanistan’s support staff in the ODI World Cup, talked about India’s heartbreaking defeat in the final to Australia.
He made a point that Australia were more flexible with their approach while India stuck to only one plan which allowed Pat Cummins and Co. to outclass them.
“Australia didn’t have a set plan," Jadeja said. “We have seen Glenn Maxwell come in at No. 3 after a big opening stand. They changed their No. 3 batter based on the opening partnership. India, on the other hand, stuck to the same approach, which is why Australia were able to make a plan."
