IPL 2025 Points Table: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered a confidence-boosting 12-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium on Friday. It not just gave breathing space to captain Rishabh Pant and coach Justin Langer but also helped them team make gains in the points table.
MI, on the other hand, suffered their third win of the season in four matches. Although the match went into the last over and the impact on the five-time champions’ Net Run Rate (NRR) was minimal, it put them in a difficult spot in the table, where everyone in the dressing room will feel pressure to find a turnaround soon.

The win was set-up by LSG‘s openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh who scored contrasting but equally important half-centuries. MI captain Hardik Pandya took his career-best figures of 5/36 but couldn’t stop the hosts from reaching 203/8 in the first 20 overs.
In reply, MI lost their openers early. Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav brought them back into the game with their knocks of 46 (24) and 67 (43) respectively, but LSG pulled things back with their stunning death overs bowling. The match came to 22 needed off the last over and Avesh Khan triumphed over Pandya to seal the win for LSG.
With the win, LSG exchanged their place in the points table with MI. They were placed seventh before the match and jumped to six with Pandya and Co. slipping to number seven.
LSG now have a much healthier NRR of 0.048 and are among the six teams with four points so far. Pant’s team is not getting big wins but despite an injury-hurt bowling attack, they are holding on.
MI’s NRR now reads at 0.108, which is pretty good, but is all due to their big win over Kolkata Knight Riders. The five-time champions are running out of time to build momentum to reach the playoffs.
