The Iyer duo of Venkatesh and Shreyas surely did their job with the bat. But, one would be remiss to not mention the impeccable job that the KKR bowlers had done to restrict SRH into setting a mere target of 160 runs.

The pick of KKR’s fiery bowling line-up was none other than Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc, who wreaked havoc over the top order of SRH, during his fabulous spell of 3/34 in 4 overs, and especially dominated in the powerplay with the new ball.

“We know how important the powerplay is. These are the two sides who have dominated in the powerplay with the bat. We needed to pick early wickets and get into their middle order," stated Starc, who was also named the Player of the Match, at a post-match interview.

Head and Abhishek have terrorized bowling attacks throughout the IPL as he duo has put up more than 660 runs as an opening pair at a ridiculous strike rate of over 220.

But, Starc started the proceedings off with an absolute peach, as he bowled one swinging in towards Head, who was completely beat by the delivery as the ball crashed onto the top of off-stump, to castle the Aussie’s stumps and send him back to the pavilion.

“I got lucky, I guess. It was nice to see his back early, not always the case," joked Starc about dismissing the Aussie opener early for a duck.

But, the misery would not end there, as Vaibhav Arora would also go on to produce a moment of madness and magic for KKR, with the aide of the enigmatic Andre Russell. And Starc made sure that the youngster got his flowers for his terrific performance with the ball as well.

“They (Arora and Harshit) are exciting to watch and are talented, they are skillful. It’s good to see how they hard they train. Harshit has been phenomenal this year. Our bowling attack has been great, it’s hard to single anyone out. As an older and overseas player, it’s good to see. No doubt they’ll take many wickets in the IPL and for India as well," exclaimed a proud Starc.

KKR will now be waiting till Friday night to know who they will be facing in the much-anticipated IPL 2024 Final on Sunday, at Chepauk in Chennai.
