English pacer James Anderson bowed out of Test cricket with a three-wicket haul in his final innings in English whites as he helped his side beat the touring West Indies by an innings and 114 runs.

Anderson scalped the wicket of Joshua da Silva, with a peach of a delivery that moved away from the batter who looked to play the ball on the leg side but managed to only edge it behind to the keeper.

    Anderson, who has pulled on the famous whites in 188 games for the English side has managed to pick up an astounding 704 wickets in his illustrious career and stands third in the list of all-time wicket-takers only behind the legendary spinners Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne.

    The pacer, who has played at the top level for over two decades now was given a touching send-off by the fans of the English side at the Lord’s with his family also in attendance to lap up the love the seamer received.

    England won the toss and decided to bowl first in Anderson’s swansong against the Windies as the bowling attack did incredibly well to bundle out the tourists for 112 runs in the first innings thanks to a Gus Atkinson seven-wicket haul.

    Anderson picked up a wicket to his credit in the first innings as he caught Jayden Seales in front of the wicket to wrap up the visitors’ innings before England went on to put up a total of 371 runs.

      With a 250-run lead in their favour, the English bowlers started attacking the Windies batter yet again in the second innings and managed to close out the game on Day 3 of the opening Test of the three-match series by bundling WI out for 136 runs in the second innings as Anderson registered a three-fer and debutant Atkinson scalping another five wickets.

      The second Test of the series is slated to get underway on the 18th while the third and final game will get underway on the 26th of the month.
