Nitish Rana Speaks Up On Super Over Omission: 'The Management Takes The Call'
RR's decision didn't turn out well as DC's Mitchell Starc nailed yorkers and used the reverse swing to his advantage to cramp Shimron Hetmyer for room to start the Super Over with a dot delivery.

Star India and Rajasthan Royals batter Nitish Rana has said that the skipper is there, along with two other senior players and coaches, and they are the ones who decide who gets to bat in the Super Over, reiterating that he doesn’t have any regrets about not being chosen for the same.
Rana smacked 51 off 28 deliveries and was on the crease till the 18th over of the chase. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 51 off 37 deliveries, but Rajasthan sent neither to bat in the Super Over against the Delhi Capitals at the latter’s home.

After the game, Rana said that it was the Rajasthan management’s call not to send him for the Super Over and instead go with Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer.

“The management takes the call, not one person. The captain is there along with two other senior players and coaches. If Shimron Hetmyer had hit two sixes, then you wouldn’t be asking this question," Rana said while speaking at the post-match press conference.
“I will give the same answer. I don’t have any other answer. Whatever decisions we took were right. Hetmyer is our finisher, that everyone knows. He has delivered in the past," Rana added.
The batter backed the management’s decision to give the ball to Sandeep Sharma instead of Jofra Archer to defend 11 in the Super Over.
The England bowler had marginally better figures than Sandeep in the main game, but the management seemingly persisted with the latter after the confidence he instilled after bowling a crunch final over against MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in an earlier game.
“One person never takes such calls. Management and support staff are there to discuss such things. If the decision was in our favour, then your question would have been different," Rana said.
“Cricket is a result-oriented sport. If Sandeep Sharma had bowled well in the Super Over, which he has done in the past. In this situation, he was most likely the bowler for us. We were one big shot less," Rana added.
RR play their next game against the Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday, April 19 in Jaipur.
