Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who played a big role in helping India with the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup titles, ignored batting superstar Virat Kohli, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, and legendary MS Dhoni when he was asked to pick his first three players who would make an XI and instead included only one Indian, and that is none other than Jasprit Bumrah.

Bumrah, who made his international debut for India against Australia in Sydney on January 23, 2016, during an ODI match, has been a consistent performer since the start. The 30-year-old pacer has established himself as one of the greatest cricketers of all time, and he played a big role in helping India win the T20 World Cup 2024 title.

During an interview with Sportskeeda recently, Yuvraj was asked, “If you were to pick the first three players, who would make an XI?" He replied by saying, “Chris Gayle, Ab de Villiers, Jasprit Bumrah."

Yuvraj played in multiple T20Is and ODIs with Bumrah for Team India, and the duo shared dressing rooms in the IPL as well when Yuvraj was associated with Mumbai Indians in the 2019 season. On the other hand, the legendary left-handed batting all-rounder played alongside Gayle and De Villiers during his association with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2014.

The 42-year-old former cricketer was also asked about his favourite IPL team, and in reply to that question, he mentioned Delhi Capitals name.

Yuvraj has been linked with the Delhi Capitals as head coach. The Delhi-based franchise is in search of a new coach after parting ways with former Australian captain Ricky Ponting in July 2024.

Ponting, who won two ODI World Cup titles as the Australian captain, served as Delhi’s head coach from 2018 to 2024, but during his seven-year stint, DC was only able to qualify for the IPL final once, and in the last three editions, it finished outside the top four.

Yuvraj has played in the IPL for DC in the 2015 edition of the cash-rich league after being signed for Rs 16 crore in the auction.
