Rohit lauded his men’s effort to seal the series with a whitewash to boost the morale of this unit heading into the ICC CT, slated to begin on the 19th of February.

“Very very pleased with the way the series went. We knew there will be challenges that we could face," the skipper said.

Rohit, who looked like he had regained his brilliant batting touch on the back of an imperious ton against England in the second ODI of the series, was dismissed cheaply for just a single run at Ahmedabad as English seamer Mark Wood sent the opener back to the hut early in the game. Rohit acknowledged the quality of the ball that got rid of him.

“I mean there is nothing I could have done about that," Rohit said.

“Credit to the bowler and the bowler is there to get you out and you are there as a batter to challenge that. Just nicked the ball, the second ball I was facing and couldn’t have done anything about that," he added.

Rohit echoed the feelings of the nation following the emphatic win over the English side but also voiced that he would like the men in blue to fine-tune certain aspects of their game ahead of the ICC event.

“I don’t see there was anything wrong we did this series. Obviously, there are certain things we are looking at to improve but I am not going to stand here and explain those," the 37-year-old said.

“Obviously any champion team wants to get better every game and move forward from there. Very happy with the score," he added.

Rohit also touched upon the consistency in composition the side looks to set up with ahead of the crucial tournament and expressed that there is a certain degree of freedom with which his players operate.

“It is our job as well to keep some consistency within the squad and the communication is clear," the Indian captain said.

“There is a bit of freedom in the squad to go out there and play the way you want. The World Cup was a perfect example of that and we want to continue to do that. There will be times it will not fall in place but that’s okay," Rohit signed off.
