Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan, in a recent talk show, opened up on controversy over cricketers messaging female actors, saying that it is not a wrong thing to do and such incidents are exaggerated and are merely the result of ‘wanting publicity’.

Appearing on Geo News’ ‘Hasna Mana Hai’, Shadab was asked by a fan if crickets do really message female actors.

“Most female actors claim that cricketers send messages to them on social media, so have you ever messaged any actors?" a female fan asked on the show.

Shadab replied that he found nothing wrong with it: “Even if cricketers send messages, what is wrong with that?"

“If actresses receive messages and don’t like them, they should simply not respond. If actresses don’t reply, they won’t get more messages. But if they respond and then expect replies while complaining about getting messages, that’s not how it works," Shadab added.

“I’ve seen videos of some actresses making big claims, but that’s not always the reality. Sometimes, things are exaggerated," he said.

“There’s no fight within the team over who messaged an actress. But yes, everyone does ask each other who sent the message," Shadab added.

“We have seen some videos in which things are exaggerated but it doesn’t turn out like that. Some actors do it for fame, like during a tournament or World Cup such things come out because everyone is keeping their eyes on it," he said.

This comes after TikToker Shahtaj Khan claimed that Shadab was in contact with her on WhatsApp and Instagram last year and had even proposed to marry him. Shadab, married to Malaika, the daughter of former Pakistan cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq, for over two years, had refuted these claims.

Shahtajhad claimed that she was unaware that Shadab was married and said she was disappointed by that.

“I was disheartened after he got married, which I believe is quite normal when your crush marries someone else. I was talking to him even at that time but had no idea that he was about to get married," she had said.

Shadab had dismissed the allegations, saying: “There’s nothing like what’s being claimed."
