South African sports scientist Adrian le Roux, who has a small history of working with the Indian team in the early 2000s, is all set to replace strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai in the Indian team setup, after the latter was recently relieved of his duties.
According to Le Roux‘s website, the Cape Town-based coach has a passion for endurance sports that include running, cycling, triathlon and ultra-endurance events, and he has taken part in several endurance events over many decades.

Along with coaching many endurance athletes, Le Roux was the strength and conditioning coach for the South African national cricket team as well and is still involved in the Indian Premier League as a consultant in athletic performance.
At the moment, Le Roux is working with the Punjab Kings, having joined the franchise in 2020. He was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders earlier, from 2008 to 2019, in a 12-year-long association.
As a coach, Le Roux loves ‘helping people cross the line, improve individual performance and reach their true potential’, his website says.
Last month, Le Roux was seen in a cycling event with former India head coach Gary Kirsten as well.
Notably, Le Roux was the strength and conditioning coach of the Indian men’s cricket team from January 2002 to May 2003, designing and implementing sports-specific training programs aimed at enhancing athletic performance.
Le Roux was part of the Indian team when it won the Natwest Trophy in England in 2002, under John Wright’s coaching.
Le Roux joined the South African team in the same capacity in June 2003 and remained with the side till August 2007, focusing on developing physical resilience, strength and agility tailored to the unique demands of cricket.
Having joined Kolkata in January 2008, Le Roux established a strong foundation for athletic excellence by developing systems, structures and cultures that enabled both the franchise and individual players to thrive.
End of Soham Desai’s tenure with the Indian team
Fielding coach T Dilip and Strength and Conditioning coach Desai are on their way out after completing over three years in their respective positions.
The new Standard Operating Procedure of BCCI has capped the support staff’s tenure at three years.
