The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently raided former IAS officer and ex-Noida Authority CEO, IAS officer Mohinder Singh’s properties. They unveiled a lump sum amount of Rs 1 crore in cash and precious items linked to a Rs 9000 crore Noida land scam during the Mayawati government, where land allocations were manipulated for personal gain. ED has raided multiple properties of Mohinder Singh, including his residences in Chandigarh, Noida and Delhi. The scam permitted several large real estate creators to profit, causing significant revenue losses for the government. During the raids, the authorities seized Rs 1 crore in cash, worth Rs 12 crore worth diamonds, and gold valued at Rs 7 crore.

Mohinder Singh is believed to have enabled numerous major real estate companies, including Amrapali and Supertech, in taking advantage of this policy.

      An IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, he passed the UPSC exam in 1977 and became an IAS officer of the 1978 batch. He retired on 31 July 2012. Before retirement, Singh was counted among the powerful officers of Uttar Pradesh. He had a lot of influence during Mayawati’s rule. He was once made the CEO of the Noida Development Authority. Apart from this, he was also the chairman of all three development authorities. Mohinder Singh’s name surfaced in the Supertech and Amrapali Builder scam case. 11 officers of Noida Authority were found guilty in the controversial Twin Tower case of Supertech, in which Moninder Singh’s name was also there. A total of 26 officers are accused in this case, out of which 20 officers have retired.

      The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has uncovered serious fraud involving the Noida Authority between 2005 and 2018. The findings show that officials and builders worked together, which led to major financial losses for the state. The report reveals that about 80% of commercial plots during this time were given to just three companies, Wave Group, 3C Group, and Logix Group. Despite these companies gaining a huge amount of money, they faced no penalties from the Noida Authority.
