Teacher And Then IAS With AIR 1, Mona Pruthi's Journey Is Truly Inspirational
Mona secured a position in the Indian Revenue Services on the second attempt. She then began her service in the Customs & Excise Department.
There are many students who aspire to be an IAS officer but only a few are able to clear it. Mona Pruthi, an English teacher is among the handful who cleared the UPSC exam. Born on January 1, 1978, in Faridabad, Haryana, she is the youngest of three sisters.
Her father, NL Pruthi who was an additional sessions judge in the state wanted to see her daughter as an IAS officer. She did become IAS on her third attempt but her father could not live to see it. Meanwhile, her mother was standing beside her through thick and thin.

Her two elder sisters are now happily married and work as college lecturers in Delhi and Gurugram. Mona Pruthi began her career as an English teacher at Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi University. She started preparing for the UPSC when she was in college.
Although she did not succeed on her first attempt, she secured a position in the Indian Revenue Services the following year. She then began her service in the Customs & Excise Department. Mona’s determination remained unwavering and in the 2005 Civil Services Examination, she achieved remarkable success by securing the top position and attaining All India Rank 1. Mona Pruthi had English literature and Sociology as her optional subjects for the Civil Services Examination.
Mona Pruthi attended Apeejay Public School in Faridabad. Subsequently, she pursued a BA Honors in English Literature at Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi and completed her MA in English at Hans Raj College, Delhi. She then obtained an M.Phil in English Literature from Delhi University.
Mona Pruthi’s husband is A Sreenivas, an IAS officer from the 2004 batch. He is currently serving in the Haryana Cadre. Previously, he was posted in the Rajasthan Cadre. Currently, he holds the position of CEO at the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority. Apart from this, he has also worked as the Managing Director of the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation.
