A native of Mayur Vihar Colony in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, Adarsh Kant Shukla’s journey towards becoming an IPS officer began to take shape as early as his formative years in school. His unwavering determination to serve the nation as a civil servant was kindled in him during his 6th and 7th-grade years.
Balancing his inclination toward science, Adarsh pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at National PG College in Lucknow. Upon completing his graduation, he embarked on his resolute mission to prepare for the UPSC CSE.
In 2019, Adarsh began his intensive preparations, focusing initially on covering the entire main syllabus before dedicating the final three months to the preliminary examinations. The unforeseen disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the postponement of the exam, offering Adarsh an unexpected opportunity to further enhance his preparations and self-assessment.
Reflecting on his journey, Adarsh recalled the initial scepticism he harboured about his decision. However, as time progressed, he grew increasingly comfortable with the subjects and overcame every obstacle in his path.
During the interview process, Adarsh found himself in a composed environment, with panel members making conscious efforts to put him at ease. In a unique twist, they even solicited documentary recommendations, reflecting the camaraderie that can develop during these transformative interviews.
