Veer Savarkar College, 1,675 Flats, First Address Of 2025: PM Modi Shifts Focus To Poll-Bound Delhi
PM Narendra Modi, the BJP’s mega vote catcher, has his work cut out as the Election Commission may announce the dates for the Delhi assembly elections any day on or after January 6

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to lay the foundation stone for the Veer Savarkar College, which will have state-of-the-art facilities, at Roshanpura in Delhi’s Najafgarh area. While he is also scheduled to do the same for two other new projects in Delhi University, the focus has been on the college named after the Hindutva ideologue since the central government announced it.
The two projects at Delhi University are academic blocks – one on the Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi and the other on the Western Campus in Dwarka. He will also be inaugurating the CBSE’s Integrated Office Complex in Dwarka.

Modi, the BJP’s mega vote catcher, will understandably shift focus on poll-bound Delhi in the very first week of the new year. The laying of foundation stone is scheduled for January 3, even as Delhi is still shrouded in New Year festive cheer. He has his work cut out, as the Election Commission may announce the poll dates any day on or after January 6.
On January 3, he will also hand over keys of new flats to slum residents. The central government has built 1,645 flats for poor families, under the Swabhimaan Awas Yojana in Ashok Vihar. But, before that, he will visit newly constructed flats for the residents of jhuggi jhopri (JJ) clusters under the in-situ slum rehabilitation project at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has constructed the flats under the ‘Where there are slums, there are houses’ scheme. The Swabhimaan Yojana was started for the economically disadvantaged sections, which is a core voter base of former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. New flats have been made available under this scheme for those who want to buy a house in Delhi-NCR.
According to the Centre, for every Rs 25 lakh spent on the construction of a flat, eligible beneficiaries pay less than 7 per cent of the total amount comprising Rs 1.42 lakh as a nominal contribution and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.
The Prime Minister, ahead of the poll dates announcement, will not only be reaching out to the economically disadvantaged, but even to those aspiring to be Delhi residents.
He will inaugurate the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar, which has transformed the area by replacing more than 600 dilapidated quarters with state-of-the-art commercial towers. He will also inaugurate the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar, where 2,500 residential units are environmentally conscious.
It is, meanwhile, speculated that Modi will also deliver an address on that day. But, this is not yet confirmed unlike the public address scheduled for January 5.
On January 5, he will reach Meerut from Delhi in Uttar Pradesh in nearly one hour using the Namo Bharat Corridor. He will inaugurate the 13-km long regional rapid transit system (RRTS) between New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh. This will be followed by a public meeting in Rohini’s Japanese Park, where he will also lay the foundation stone for a new Metro line.
While most of these are not BJP events, with the election round the corner, all of it will be seen through the prism of politics. So, when he delivers his speech, the party’s Delhi unit is hopeful that it will have enough ingredients for them to launch a political attack on Kejriwal, who is the Aam Aadmi Party’s CM candidate.
