England booked their place in the final of Euro 2024 against Spain with their 2-1 win over the Netherlands at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

The Three Lions reached their second consecutive Euro final as strikes from Harry Kane and Ollie Watkins helped England past the Dutch.

Kane converted a penalty in the 18th minute after being brought down inside the area to nullify Xavi Simon’s opener from outside the box, and Watkins came off the bench to net the winner in the final minute of regulation time to put England through.

The hordes of the Oranje faithful draped in the vibrant colour synonymous with the storied nation have enthralled onlookers and followers worldwide with their loud and proud demonstrations of support for their football team.

The winner of the game between the Dutch and the English will seal their berth in the summit clash of the tournament against Spain, who moved into the championship match with their 2-1 come-from-behind win over France yesterday.

Ronald Koeman, who has brought his Dutch side all the way to the semis of the ongoing Euros, has done an incredible job at the helm of the Oranje despite the injury-related absence of star names such as Frenkie de Jong and Teun Koopmeiners ahead of the tournament.

But, the Dutchmen have worked well and have made their way to the semis hurdle thanks to the prolific form of forward Cody Gakpo.

Koeman, the manager who was sent away from Barcelona in disgrace, has been scripting his comeback to the international stage and has done a particularly magnificent job of taking his nation deep into the tournament.

England have scraped their way into the semifinal of the continental showpiece thanks to the individual brilliance of the high-profile players that make up the English squad, but have struggled to click together as a team.

As the Three Lions look to progress to their second straight Euro Final, Southgate will hope to find the missing link in his plans to bring about a certain sense of cohesion in the manner the English go about their assignment.

With Southgate under immense pressure to bring back silverware to England, a slip-up would most likely cost the Englishman his job at the helm.

But, as with everything in football, a couple of wins in their upcoming games could turn things around for England and their 53-year-old manager.

The Three Lions have had a rather underwhelming showing in Germany despite topping Group B ahead of Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia.

Gareth Southgate’s men edged out Slovakia in their Round of 16 encounter, before picking up a win over the Swiss in the quarterfinals on penalties to reach the semis of the continental competition.

They got the better of Romania in their Round of 16 encounter, before brushing aside the challenge from Turkey in the quarters.
