5 Army Personnel Killed After Vehicle Plunges Into Gorge Near LoC In J&K's Mendhar
Traffic accidents which involve cars and other vehicles rolling into gorges are not uncommon in Jammu and Kashmir given the region’s rugged, mountainous terrain.

At least five soldiers were killed and several others were injured when a vehicle carrying security personnel plunged into a gorge near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Mendhar on Tuesday evening.
Rescuers have recovered the bodies of five dead soldiers and are administering aid to those injured. Sources said some soldiers sustained critical injuries.

Sources also said that there were ten soldiers on board of which five were fatally injured.
“All ranks of WhiteKnightCorps extend their deepest condolences on the tragic loss of five brave soldiers in a vehicle accident during operational duty in the Poonch sector. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the injured personnel are receiving medical care," the 16 Corps of the Indian Army said in a social media post.
The vehicle apparently rolled down into the gorge.

Two army personnel were injured in Gurez on December 15 after vehicle skidded off the road in the Zadikushi-Gurez road.
One soldier also died in September and six others were injured after their vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into gorge at Sukrala Mata Ashram road.
