PM Modi Praises Marathi Language
Giving a detailed account of the contribution of the Marathi language to the country’s history and literature, PM Modi said that it became a symbol of freedom from invaders during years of slavery.
He highlighted the bravery of great rulers such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sambhaji Maharaj, and Baji Rao Peshwa, and said that they brought their enemies to their knees.
“Marathi is a complete language. There is bravery and courage in Marathi. There is beauty, there is sensitivity, there is equality, there is harmony in Marathi. It has the tones of spirituality as well as the wave of modernity. There is devotion, power, and wisdom in Marathi. Many saints from Maharashtra provided a new direction to society through the Bhakti movement, using the Marathi language as their medium. During the long period of hundreds of years of slavery, the Marathi language became a symbol of freedom from invaders. Marathi warriors such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sambhaji Maharaj, and Baji Rao Peshwa defeated their enemies and brought them to their knees," PM Modi said.
