Navratri Processions, Loudspeaker Music Keep Delhi Residents Awake, Police Take Note
Residents in many areas of Delhi have complained about loud music during Navratri, disturbing their sleep. Police have taken action by disconnecting over 100 boom boxes, a report claimed.

Residents in south, east, and southeast Delhi have reportedly complained of loud music being played on trucks and other vehicles during Navratri festivities and processions.
According to a report with the Hindustan Times, the police have taken note of the complaints and said they had received many calls informing them of loud music being played on boom boxes.

The police, according to the report, said they took suo motu action and plugged the wire of more than 100 boom boxes on March 29, a day before Navratri began.
They also said a watch was being kept to ensure no further nuisance.
The report quoted several residents as saying that they could not sleep as their “doors and windows rattled through the night".
Rajiv Gupta, RWA president Kalindi Colony was quoted as saying, “Even though we are very religious, this trend of playing loud music on the roads is very uncomfortable for everyone, especially for old people."
Meanwhile, a social media user wrote on X, “Not again! In the name of Navratri, loud cheap crass music is being played at 1.25 am, right outside a residential society in Sector 7, Jasola Vihar. Sleepless in Delhi for d next 9 days." (sic).
The X user tagged Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s Office, the Delhi Police and more people in her post.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) permits a maximum noise level of 55dB(A) between 6am and 10pm in residential areas.
